Primary Purpose To provide assistance in the efficiency of special education services to eligible students in our 13 districts. Qualifications Education/Certification: High school diploma with specialized work in general office practices 2 years of job training or related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience Necessary special education terminology a plus but not necessary Stipend offered for Bilingual Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification Special Knowledge/Skills: Assists in organization and maintenance of confidential files Produces clear, concise paperwork, including ARD committee reports Ensures that all records are accurate and are maintained in accordance with established and accepted procedures regarding confidentiality Complete and files paperwork in a timely manner Knowledge of Special Education Services Punctuality Experience: Experienced keyboarding skills Experienced use of computer and various programs Major Responsibilities and Duties Time Management and Confidentiality 1. Maintains confidentiality in the strictest manner and with the upmost priority. 2. Is available to coordinate data for presentation at ARD committee meetings and conferences.. 3. Coordinates ARD meetings with all committee members. 4. Collects needed information and paperwork from Related Services personnel who are not in attendance at the ARD meeting 5. Must be willing to travel out-of-town whenever necessary 6. Promotes positive public relations 7. Uses acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. 8. Informs Supervisor in a timely manner of situations that may affect the program and students 9. Maintains open communications with supervisory personnel 10. Maintains open communications with campus/district personnel 11. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with all colleagues, parents and community members 12. Uses time in a productive manner 13. Submits data and reports in a thorough, accurate and prompt manner 14. Adheres to timelines 15. Provide consultation and the explanation of the role of special education services to teachers, parents and the community in regards to special education services upon request 16. Is available for the exchange of information with the regular classroom teacher, resource teacher and other district staff regarding the progress of students in special programs when requested 17. Attends and participates in Assessment Staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required 18. Is accessible to teachers, DLSEC staff and District staff 19. Coordinates summer testing and tracking of timelines 20. Maintains information about and coordinates with community and state agencies Other 21. Coordinate with Region III in scheduling 120 day face to face meetings 22. Complete ECI and Child find referral packets, conduct vision and hearing screenings if needed, obtain OHI s, medical records, enter timeline, enter referral into database and distribute 23. Determine timelines for requested assessments, tracking and distribution of reports 24. Coordinate with contracted professional for scheduling of evaluations, receipt of evaluation, tracking of timelines, and distribution of evaluations 25. Coordinate with District staff and medical agencies to obtain all necessary outside evaluations, eligibilities, and records requests 26. Available to translate for ARD meetings, assist in conducting language screeners, and conduct ancillary testing upon request 27. Available to conduct vision and hearing screenings for special education students upon request 28. Completion of Respite funds applications 29. Coordinate with staff for preparation of ESY program 30. Coordinate with district staff for notification of students who withdraw and complete proper notification to students new placement 31.
